The words “Rustic by Nature “ could be used to describe the man behind the brand. Paul Busson is a passionate outdoors person who spends his spare time in and on the ocean and exploring the great outdoors.

Now based in Marlborough, Paul can often be found walking the beaches of the South Island with his dog Jed, searching for interesting driftwood timber to take home and add to his ever-growing project piles.

Alongside a 30+ years career in an unrelated industry, Paul has decided to spend more time engaging in his true passion of creating unique and useful objects out of the timber he sources from his travels and from local demolition salvage.

Paul remembers spending time in his grandfather’s workshop watching him build furniture for every family member he could find and also working for his own father as a free labourer on many house renovation projects. Through this he discovered a love of creating whatever he could imagine out of surplus and scrap timber.

Paul’s Rustic by Nature approach to product design and manufacture celebrates and highlights the beauty, natural characteristics and textures of the timber being used.
